Hiring Agency Legislative | Legislative Research Commission Location 702 Capital Ave Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description The Legislative Research Commission is accepting applications for the position of Database SystemsAdministrator in OCIT. This position is nonpartisan in nature and requires the ability to work with neutralityin a politically charged environment. Compensatory time is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis with priorapproval. Job Duties: Manage and maintain SQL Server databases and instances Manage access and permissions to Databases Optimize Database performance, availability, and capacity planning strategies resulting in maximum efficiencyof hardware resources Manage database growth and conducted capacity planning Ensure that the database meets any regulations and standards when dealing with sensitive data Devising and implementing processes for resolving faults and data loss Liaising with programmers, applications/operational staff, IT project management, and tech staff Identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations and applications Develop the models needed to ensure both scalability and security, implement and test Create technical documentation pertaining to a database's functionality, its ancillary tools, and how theywork together to provide all the needed functionality Monitor closely how the system is performing by doing tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features Automate routine database administration tasks Deploy and manage containerized database applications Work with Kubernetes clusters to orchestrate database containers Integrate SQL and NoSQL database solutions as needed Assist with database migrations and upgrades Archiving Data Report creation (Crystal Reports, Tableau) Perform other duties as assigned Desired Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment. Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration (5 years of experience) Experience with Linux operating systems and PostgreSQL database (3 years of experience) Experience with document-oriented databases NoSQL databases such as CouchDB and MongoDB (3 years ofexperience) Proficiency in T-SQL programming, SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SSIS (SQL Server IntegrationServices) Excellent technical skills in a range of programming and scripting languages (SQL, Transact-SQL, Python,JAVA, C#, etc) Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery procedures Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery options for SQL Server Experience with performance tuning and query optimization Understanding of database design principles and data modeling Experience with containerization technologies, particularly Docker Working knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, Helm charts, stateful applications Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure or AWS is a plus Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Bachelor's or associate's degree in information technology or related field EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in database, operating systems, networking,security, programming, and troubleshooting techniques.
