Job Title: Data Center Technician (NIGHT Shift)

Location: Ashburn, Virginia

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Break Fix Data Center Technician to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia. As a member of our day shift team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous operation and maintenance of our data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, experience in troubleshooting and repairing data center equipment, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of hardware and network issues in the data center environment.

2. Respond promptly to equipment failures and alarms, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on operations.

3. Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance tasks on critical infrastructure components such as servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and power distribution systems.

4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and facilities to address complex technical issues and implement solutions.

5. Document all maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and service interventions accurately and thoroughly.

6. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure and compliant work environment.

7. Assist in the installation, configuration, and deployment of new hardware and software as needed.

8. Participate in on-call rotations and provide support during emergency situations outside of regular business hours.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or associate degree in a related field preferred.

2. 2+ years of experience in a data center or similar technical environment, with a focus on break/fix maintenance.

3. Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure components, including servers, storage systems, networking devices, and power distribution units.

4. Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues using diagnostic tools and techniques.

5. Familiarity with ticketing systems for tracking and managing service requests and incidents.

6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and clients.

8. Flexibility to work occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Technical certifications from leading vendors such as Cisco, Dell, HP, or equivalent.

2. Experience with data center management software and monitoring tools.

3. Knowledge of industry best practices for data center operations and maintenance.

4. Understanding of ITIL principles and practices.
