Our client is looking for a Data Center Technician to join their team! This position will work onsite and will be on call on a 24/7 basis when required. The motivated and adaptable Data Center Technician will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the data center. This position will handle a wide range of tasks to ensure the facility operates smoothly, efficiently, and securely.

Responsibilities:

  • Device Management: Install, remove, and configure devices within the data center as per operational needs.
  • Cable Management: Install and manage copper and fiber cables, ensuring proper organization and functionality. Organize and maintain cabling systems, ensuring neatness, accessibility, and proper labeling.
  • Equipment Installation and Racking: Rack and install equipment such as servers, network gear, and PDUs, including sensors for temperature and humidity monitoring.
  • Proactive System Monitoring: Continuously monitor production systems, providing remote hands support as needed to prevent issues from affecting service availability.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide first-line troubleshooting and support for client servers and network devices, escalating more complex issues when necessary.
  • Vendor Support: Escort third-party vendors and technicians to facilitate their activities on-site.
  • Emergency Response: Act as the first responder to urgent requests or incidents, ensuring rapid resolution to minimize downtime.
  • Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean and orderly data center, ensuring it remains clutter-free and compliant with safety standards.
  • Incident Management: Address and manage incident tickets, following up with the necessary actions and updates.
  • Change Management: Support the implementation of changes within the data center, ensuring that they are executed without impacting operational stability.
  • Miscellaneous Tasks: Provide additional support as needed for any site-related tasks or special requests.

Top skills you need to have:

  • Experience with SN, ITAM, DCIM and others.
  • Maintenance of data center equipment
  • Running Copper and Fiberoptic cables
  • Equipment racking of network gear, servers, and power distribution
  • Monitoring systems
  • Remote support
  • Level 1 troubleshooting for client servers and network devices
  • Processing hardware RMA's
  • Ticketing systems
  • Machine deployments
  • Documentation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Experience with Colo, DCIM Application tool is helpful
