Applications and nominations are sought for an Undergraduate Laboratory Coordinator in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This 9-month appointment is at the Lecturer / Assistant Teaching Professor rank and would begin August 11, 2025. The position is initially for a three-year term and is renewable.

Required qualifications include a master's or doctoral degree (or the equivalent) in chemistry or a related area, and one semester of teaching experience at the college level. Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree in chemistry or a related area, at least one year of experience teaching introductory chemistry courses, and experience in laboratory coordination. We especially welcome applicants from candidates with experience and interest in utilizing evidence-based scientific teaching and learning practices to foster student success in general education and introductory chemistry labs.

Primary duties include coordinating the general chemistry laboratories and other undergraduate laboratories as needed. The laboratory coordinator will develop lab schedules and syllabi, coordinate with the stockroom to stock the labs, train and supervise the teaching assistants and adjunct faculty that are teaching the introductory lab courses, coordinate with the faculty to ensure alignment between lectures and labs, and implement updates to the laboratory exercises as needed. Additional duties may include teaching in the introductory chemistry lectures and/or upper-level courses (depending on the candidate's interests and the department's needs); and service responsibilities, such as support for departmental curriculum / pedagogy development and serving on department and university committees.
