Reports To: BUILDING ADMINISTRATION & HUMAN RESOURCESPosition Summary: The Substitute Teacher will assist students with learning subjectmatter and skills that will contribute to their development asmature, accountable and responsible students in the absence of theclassroom teacher.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESGuides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goalsand, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons,units, projects and to communicate these objectives to students, as adoptedby the local and state Board of EducationMeets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the timesdesignatedImplements instructional activities that contribute to a climate wherestudents are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiencesMaintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of theschool and classroom to which assignedTeaches lesson plan as outlined by the absent teacherIdentifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs ofthe students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needsMaintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law,district policy, and administrative regulation, pertaining to the teacher andstudentsModels professional and ethical standards when dealing with students,parents, peers, and communitySUBSTITUTE TEACHEREstablishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students,parents, and schools.Assists students with resolving academic and social challenges.Performs all extra duties for the absent teacher as required by buildingadministrationMakes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested todo so under reasonable termsRemains at school during the entire school day unless excused byadministration or the designated representativeMaintains a professional appearance as an example for studentsPerforms other related duties as assigned by the building administration orHuman Resources

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSThe qualifications noted below are required/preferred to enable the employeeto perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.Sixty college credit hours, Bachelor's Degree preferredMO Substitute Certification, teacher certification preferredMentoring or tutoring experience or equivalent in a diverse educationalenvironmentPre-service student teaching or equivalent in a diverse educationalenvironmentSuperior interpersonal skills required

- High school diploma
- Current Missouri Substitute Certification
- Previous teaching experience or equivalent in urban settings preferred.
