Job Description:

The Distribution Center Automation Supervisor will service, maintain, and repair robotics and automated production systems used in the DC for picking, packing, sorting, etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Oversee the configuration and operation of automated systems within the distribution center.

Supervise Technicians in the implementation of automation solutions that drive productivity and efficiency.

Serve as a technical mentor to less experienced team members, enhancing their ability to manage both routine and complex tasks.

Evaluates robotic prototypes to determine performance of mechanisms, components and systems.

Inspect, clean, repair, and maintain robotic machinery and equipment to ensure full functionality.

Provide technical support in relation to the enhancement of automated systems.

Calibrate equipment accordingly to achieve maximum results.

Test and run diagnostics to evaluate system efficiency.

Detect and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement solutions.

Align, fit, or assemble parts or devices, using hand tools, power tools, etc.

Install new robotic systems or parts based on operating specifications.

Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment operates properly to meet safety regulations and standards.

Maintain detailed documentation and instructions for maintenance and repairs performed.

Maintain supply inventory and order and source replacement parts, sensors, cables, etc.

Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for leadership, DC team members, and internal/external partners in regards to robotics equipment.

Maintain thorough knowledge of the automation within the DC and identify application opportunities.

Travel as needed.

All other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

3+ years' experience in automation, robotics, or related field

Previous experience in a similar production environment with an emphasis on electronics, mechanics, or programming

Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose complex problems within automated systems

Ability to learn automation of new technologies and pursue any necessary continued learning or certifications

Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Ability to work with high motivation and limited supervision

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts in business terms at all organizational levels

Desired:

Vocational or technical certification in AS/RS, AGV, AMR, or related automation

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
