**Dean of Arts & Sciences, and Academic Administration**

**Reports to:** Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Dean of Faculty (VPAA/DOF)

**# of Direct Reports:** 10-14

**Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**

The Dean is an administrative position and reports to the Vice President ofAcademic Affairs, and Dean of Faculty. This position serves as an administrative and academic officer responsible for management and oversight of academic division programs, faculty, and staff, external relationships (e.g., with high school and potential transfer institutions), and supervises administrative offices in academic affairs (e.g., Registrar, Distance Education, Library, etc.). The Dean is responsible for Arts & Sciences curriculum, course schedules, developing/managing budgets, and leading and serving alongside faculty, and staff. The Dean develops and implements long-term academic strategies and collaborates working across departments to drive institutional goals. The Dean emphasizes a commitment to student success and engagement by enhancing student outcomes and fostering a supportive academic environment.

**Essential Job Functions**

+ _?_ Serves as a member of the VPAA/DOF's Academic Council leading the Arts & Sciences academic division, assigned academic administrative offices, academic programs, and special projects in the development and implementation of goals and objectives aligned with the College institutional goals.

+ Provides leadership in academic administration, academic planning, development, the curriculum, and instruction assessment/evaluation, program review, and development of existing and new academic programs and initiatives along with maintaining current programmatic accreditations and authorizations.

+ Develops and implements division, and departmental policies and processes required to support general education guidelines necessary to maintain state, regional, programmatic accreditation.

+ Collaborates, and communicates with internal and external stakeholders in partnerships that support the mission of the division and College (i.e., academic advising, retention, and student recruitment).

+ Participates actively in the recruitment, retention, development, and evaluation of faculty and staff supporting a collegial professional atmosphere that encourages and ensures growth.

+ Plans and manages the division, and assigned academic administration office budget, personnel, and strategic planning in collaboration with the VPAA.

+ Leads special projects, serves as an academic program director, academic advisor, and serves in appropriate capacities, as needed, to support the division, assigned academic administration offices and Academic Affairs.

+ Maintains current knowledge of trends and best practices in the disciplines within the division and assigned academic administration offices.

Doctorate: Education/Higher Education/Related Field (required)

**Work Experience**

Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education at the Dean level or higher, with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing external relationships, managing academic programs, supervising academic administrative offices, developing, and managing budgets, and leading and serving alongside faculty and staff. Experience in developing and implementing long-term academic strategies that align with institutional goals. Experience in working across departments and with various stakeholders to drive institutional goals. Experience in enhancing student outcomes and fostering a supportive academic environment.
