CONTACT INFORMATION: Human Resources 325-###-#### or ...@hsutx.edu SUMMARY/SCOPE: The dean provides leadership for the academic programs inthe College of Health Professions and supervises 25 full-time faculty and asimilar number of adjuncts. The College offers bachelor's degrees in CommunicationSciences & Disorders, Exercise Science, Fitness Recreation & SportsManagement, Nursing, and Physical Education. It offers six graduate degrees: theDoctor of Physical Therapy, the Master of Physician Assistant Studies, theMaster of Science in Kinesiology, Sport & Recreation, the Master of Sciencein Speech-Language Pathology, the online Master of Athletic Training, and theDoctor of Medical Science, scheduled to begin in Spring 2025. Leadership isneeded in the form of planning, development, and implementation of all academicprograms within the College. The successful candidate will need to haveexcellent communication skills and to be able to work closely with other deansand university administrators. The dean is responsible for the preparation ofcomprehensive annual reports for the HSU Board of Trustees and accreditingagencies. The dean will work with foundations, organizations, and donors of theCollege to promote growth of endowment and support. Active participation instate and national professional organizations is encouraged. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The dean will supervise nine department heads, twenty-fivefull-time faculty, and roughly twenty-five adjunct faculty, staff, and studentworkers. QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to effectively present information and respondto questions from groups of administration, faculty, students and the generalpublic. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts suchas probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such asfractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Abilityto apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range ofintellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas,scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability todeal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. COMPUTER SKILLS: Toperform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processingsoftware; spreadsheet software; and Internet software. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Earned doctorate from an accredited program required in one of the teachingfields in the College of Health Professions. Excellent teaching and communication skills required. This positionis a non-tenure track appointment with a 12-month annual contract. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None are required for this position at this time. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described hereare representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfullyperform the essential functions of this job. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is a Full-Time Exempt Level Facultyposition with a teaching load at the Hardin-Simmons University campus. Must bewilling to relocate to Abilene, Texas, or the surrounding area to teachin-person classes on the HSU Campus. Occasional travel may be required for studentevaluation/sponsorship and professional development. Must have andmaintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving recordto be insurable under the university liability policy. Must be able todrive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
