Job duties are as follows, but not limited to:
- Securing barges together (building tow & working in fleet)
- Securing boat to barges (facing boat up)
- Line handling and affixes rigging
- Minor engine room work (oil changes, greasing, filter changes, etc.)
- Painting
- Cooking
- General housekeeping and upkeep of the vessel, including washing, chipping, painting, and cleaning
- Tow work, including carrying rigging, and building tow
- Loads and unloads materials
- Stand lookout watches while the vessel is underway
- Lubricates machinery and equipment
- Splices and repair wire cables
- Uses handtools
- Checks void tanks on barges for leaks
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested
Basic requirements:
- Must have and maintain a TWIC.
- Must have and maintain a valid/current Driver's license.
- At least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have the ability to receive and carry out instruction.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Must have dependable transportation to designated Turn Services locations, no exceptions.
- Must be able to work various hours/holidays/weekends.
- Ability to work in a flexible schedule; must allow for changes in assignments and priorities depending upon identified needs of the vessel
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Must meet fit for duty requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test).
- The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces.
- Must be able to work in difficult conditions with exposure to all weather conditions
- Must be comfortable working aboard boats and barges.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
