We create a joyful learning environment where children and families flourish, and can show up authentically as their true selves.Position SummaryThe Dedicated Aide will assist with specialized instruction and related services for children with emotional disorders, autism, developmental delays in one or more areas, intense behavioral challenges, multiple learning problems, and other related disorders. The Dedicated Aide will assist their assigned student(s) throughout the school day by making the curriculum and daily activities accessible for the student.Support Student Learning & Independence
  • Support assigned student(s) in participating in lessons, daily activities, school events, and assessments.
  • Facilitate independent work with materials in the Montessori environment following the student's IEP and teacher-created learning plans.
  • Use prescribed behavioral strategies and positive behavior support in all settings.
  • Maintain the assigned student's schedule and escort (and remain in space with the assigned student during related service sessions such as speech therapy and occupational therapy.)
  • Collaborate with Teaching & Student Support Teams
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and the Student Support team in the planning and managing lessons and work that the student will be doing independently and with support.
  • Coordinates with the teaching team to ensure the classroom contains sufficient supplies and materials for individualized instructional and behavioral support.
  • Keeps other members of the classroom teaching team, appropriate service providers, and families informed of progress and challenges regarding the student.
  • Observe and record notes of students' development and regularly communicate students' progress to the lead teacher.
  • Works with the teaching team to organize the personal workspace for the assigned student and ensure the classroom contains sufficient supplies and materials for individualized instructional support.
  • Provide verbal or written feedback to the classroom teaching team, appropriate service providers, and families on progress and challenges regarding the student during weekly classroom team meetings and other mandatory team meetings.
  • Participate in all training related to data collection and assessment.
  • Discuss student observations or concerns with the lead teacher and other teaching staff.
  • Participate in any Special Education processes and ongoing monitoring of student progress toward goals.
  • Assist in Data Collection and Record-keeping
  • Support in collecting written observations and inputting them into an online record-keeping system.
  • Support in the data collection of the IEP goals and behavioral interventions.
  • Take note of all student incidents and communicate to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Discuss observations with the lead teacher and other teaching staff.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise student to ensure their safety during transitions and activities.
  • If an assigned student is in the Extended Day afterschool program, the dedicated aide may be required to shift schedules or work overtime for additional pay following legal requirements.
  • Fulfill supervision responsibilities for another student if the assigned student is absent.
  • Provide supervision and enriching activities during non-academic times including lunch, recess, and other duties, as assigned.
  • Record and consistently communicate about students' development outside of the classroom.
  • Participate in and contribute to all family conferencing conversations and mandatory school events.
  • Attend and contribute to all employee training sessions, supervision meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Regularly read all organizational and campus-specific communications, responding when necessary.
  • Required Skills/Abilities
  • Possess some knowledge of elementary student development principles and developmentally appropriate educational practices.
  • Willingness to learn about Montessori principles and continuously implement its practice.
  • Model a 'can-do attitude where you can fully engage children of all ages; similar to the work of a camp counselor....(Possess an Enthusiastic personality )
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with adults and children.
  • Write effective emails and instructional notes about a student's progress.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate difficult information with staff, parents, and students productively and constructively.
  • Proficient or willing to learn Google Suite and related software as required for recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Registered Behavior Technician or ParaPro certification is a plus.
    • Previous Montessori experience is a plus.
    Physical Requirements
    • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the classroom and outdoor spaces.
    • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
    • Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
