Position Summary
Position is responsible for reviewing and verifying deeds for accuracy, and for updating appropriate ownership information for property tax billing purposes. This position will also identify and review for accuracy the specific attributes of transfers of real property by abstracting important deed information and language of a specialized nature.
Position Responsibilities
Reviews and processes deeds to document ownership and changes in ownership accurately into the property tax computer system.
Identifies and accurately processes parcel splits and combinations.
Reviews for accuracy and maintains reports produced from imaging database.
Works with other departments to process deed transfers.
Enters information from disclosure validation team to ensure that processes run smoothly.
Supports and answers questions to customers who call or visit the office.
Maintains confidentiality of information.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year's prior work related experience is required. Preference given to applicants with college degree or Indiana real estate broker's or salesperson's license, or to applicants pursuing a law degree. Applicants must have the ability to assist customers in a professional and courteous manner, whether it's face-to-face, email, or over the telephone. Knowledge of basic real estate transfer issues is required. Knowledge of imaging systems and other software is required. Requires attention to detail and must be able to type, create, and edit reports and spreadsheets as needed; and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Independent Judgment
Position requires the knowledge of established laws, policies and procedures, which controls most of the actions in this position. Other duties and tasks are routine in nature and performed under moderate supervision following standard procedures. Independent judgment, subject to supervisory oversight, is used when there are no available policies and procedures.
