The delegating nurse will work closely with the school community to maintain a healthy environment. She/he will provide training to all appropriate school staff regarding issues related to students with special health needs including planning, maintaining a safe environment, and medication administration issues. In addition, they are responsible for the implementation of school health services programs and policies related to students with special needs.Essential Functions:* Provide first aid, medical care, and emergency care services to students, faculty and staff* Administer medications and treatments to students as ordered by students' physicians* Assist in the collection and management of health forms* Create and maintain documentation of all encounters, assessments, and interventions* Serve as liaison between students, teachers and families regarding health concerns* Provide evaluation of competency of Certified Medication Technicians* Develop initial nursing evaluation and the nursing plan of care* Available to staff to answer questions concerning medical and/or medication issues* Perform staff training and retraining as needed/requested* Assessing the health care needs of the school population* Being available for adequate supervision of school health plan* Staff CPR/First Aid training* Staff Certified Medication Technician training* Support school administration in following up with families to get forms completed* Support school with the submission of Maryland State Vaccine Reports* Form reviews in preparation for all class trips* Review the medication forms and meds, making sure nothing has expired* Identify teacher/chaperone to whom you will delegate the administration of medication* Generate Field Trip medication administration form for paper documentation* Support the school with following medical provider instructions to create Diabetic/Seizure Action Plan* Providing general advice to the school regarding best practices around student health services and programsPosition Qualifications:* Current Maryland RN license - BSN preferred* Training/experience as Delegating Nurse in Maryland schools is preferred.* Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience* Nursing experience in a high school setting* Current Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/Basic Life Support certification* Ability to quickly and competently assess medical situations and escalate as neededHourly Rate: $25.00/hourlyBase salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer.Benefits: Benefits are not offered for this role.
