FUNCTION:The Delivery Technician is responsible for delivery, set-up, training, cleaning, and servicing of all medical equipment and supplies to Blackburn's customers. (This service must be done under the compliance with state and federal regulations, Joint Commission and OSHA standards and Blackburn's policies.)OVERALL DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES:* Load equipment from onto delivery vehicle; ensures that all equipment and supplies are delivered clean and in good working condition; secures all equipment properly for transport.* Delivers medical supplies and durable medical equipment to home care patients and medical facilities within time frame considered timely for the patient and/or caregiver.* Performs basic home safety assessment in the home and completes home assessment form.* Instructs patient and/or caregiver on the basic use of the equipment and general maintenance of equipment.* Perform repairs on all durable medical equipment delivered by delivery technicians* Adheres to company policy and procedure on infection control and safety* Pick up equipment, load in vehicle, segregating dirty equipment from clean and return to designated area* Obtains patient signature on necessary documents and collects COD's and co pays to facilitate billing processes and returns money and documents immediately to proper department* Maintains company vehicle and assures vehicle safety. Ensures vehicle maintenance schedule is followed. Always wears seat belt. Keeps interior and exterior clean* Assists in maintaining awareness of safety considerations in the warehouse, including use of forklift and lifting of heavy objects* Perform cleaning / disinfecting of all returned equipment according to company policy* Maintains inventory of all vehicle stocked items as directed* Perform cleaning and testing of equipment according to company policy* Assists in conducting inventories* Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management* Assist with shipping as needed* Inventory of all equipment in basement as needed including wound care and RespiratoryCONTINUING EDUCATION:* Attends in-services on safety considerations and infection control*Attends in-services on new products* Attends annual company in-services on hazardous communications, etc. as required* Avail self of audio and video tapesQualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school education or equivalent. Must be organized and possess the ability to work with people. Experience in mechanical assembly and/or repair of mechanical or electronic devices. Familiar with both hand and shop tools. Must possess valid driver's license and good driving record. Must have good communication skills. Computer knowledge and background in healthcare related industry helpful.
