Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a Denials Prevention Coordinator to join our team!
The System Denials Prevention Coordinator is responsible for providing oversight of the Denial Management Program for the Aspirus system to persistently improve the denial rate to match or exceed the industry benchmark. This position will drive business value by identifying denial trends and collaborating with business units to fix the issue as well as prevent it from reoccurring. The System Denials Prevention Coordinator will also serve as a liaison for revenue cycle staff and clinical departments, ensuring effective communication and workflows between all parties, establishing awareness and accountability throughout the system. This position works to appropriately integrate and facilitate best practices, achieve efficiencies, and align with Aspirus' strategic plan.
HOURS: Full Time 1.0 FTE, 80 Hours Biweekly
Experience/Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or relevant years of experience equivalent in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university required
* Minimum of 5 years' progressive leadership experience working in healthcare environment, especially in revenue cycle, or denials management required
* Knowledge of health system insurance billing practices highly desired
* Previous managerial experience highly desired
* Hospital and professional billing processes and reimbursement
* Medicare and Medicaid denials and appeals
* Third-party contracts
* Insurance protocols, delay tactics, systems, and workflows
* Federal and state regulations related to denials and appeals
* Possesses a high level of critical thinking and analytical skills
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to facilitate change effectively with cross-functional teams
* Ability to motivate, influence, and direct the work of others, often without authority
* Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with others to achieve positive results
* Ability to act as a thought leader for performance improvement and denials prevention
* Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, both orally and in writing
* Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change
* Possess efficient time-management skills and proven ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
* Exceptional writing and communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience

* Position requires limited travel

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is the flagship of the Aspirus system that serves patients in 14 counties across northern and central Wisconsin, as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
