To protect your workforce, we are at your fingertips: internationalsos.comJob DescriptionThe purpose of this position is to support the dentist in providing oral healthcare for DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The dental assistant is an integral member of the dental treatment team and performs a wide variety of interventions which contribute to the overall oral health of patients. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with routine dental procedures using concepts of four-handed dentistry.
  • Preforms both standard and specialty dental imaging in traditional and/or digital formats
  • Maintain cleanliness and prepares the operatory with all needed equipment, materials and supplies for planned dental procedure(s) prior to seating the patient and cleans operatory after the patient is dismissed for timely turnover.
  • Provide direct patient care under the general supervision of the Dentist and performs clerical functions independently.
  • 3+ years recent experience preferred; entry-level candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsExperience & Certifications Required:
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Dental Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified and passed the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Exam.
  • BLS strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years' recent experience - including at least six months in the past year.
  • Previous military experience or OCONUS contractor experience in an austere environment.
Education Required:
  • Successful completion of a 2-year dental assistant program or completion of a 2-year dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Accreditation that included at least 12 semester hours of courses.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq.
  • A valid US passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
