Job Summary A designated Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist and dental hygienist in the direct provision of primary dental care to the patients. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. Required to perform basic tasks on patients such as performing Intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays, digital scans, Pictures, and Impressions independently.
Private Dental Office located at 850 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, NJ - 07702 looking for a full-time dental assistant.
Hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and One Saturday per month from 9:00 to 3:00. No Saturdays in Summer.
Job Type: Full-time (Up to 32 to 36 hours per week)
Responsibilities
Prepares the operatory with appropriate instruments and materials for scheduled patients.
Provides chair-side assistance during treatment, recognizing the dentist's need for instruments, materials, retraction, or suction.
Assists in recording dental charts, dental findings, and treatment plans in the Dentrix computer software. Maintain confidentiality of records and obtain necessary consent form signatures. Take digital Intraoral and extraoral x-rays, pictures, impressions, and models as advised by the dentist.
Work independently to make the temporary crowns, remove access cement, take primary impressions, make Bleaching trays
Assists patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering their questions, and giving post-op directions to patients as authorized by the dentist.
Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by the dentist in accordance with state regulations and law.
Maintains dental equipment and work areas in compliance with health policies and procedures relative to infection control and safety issues, including the sterilization of all reusable dental instruments and equipment and the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials
Maintained infection control, general cleanliness, and disinfection for the dental operatories in between the patients.
Maintain adequate operatory supplies and generate a list for the necessary inventory.
Well organized, Maintain the lab records and Patient lab cases.
Receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with a professional matter, clinic business, and patient care
Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the office as appropriate and as time permits
As directed by a supervisor, performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
X-ray License Required
Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board is preferred. Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting preferred (Registered Dental Assistant)
must have a minimum of 2 years of dental assisting experience
Current CPR (BLS) requires a License and/or Certification
Current CPR certification required
