Lower Lights Christian Health Center (LLCHC) transforms the overall health of Central Ohio, serving one individual at a time. In 2019 alone, we served over 12,000 patients - with 40% being uninsured - and totaled 50,000+ medical encounters!
Operating out of seven locations, we offer medical care (primary care, dental, vision, OB/GYN, telehealth), behavioral health care, 340B pharmacy, nutritional assistance programs, and more. Working hours are Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday morning coverage.
Job Summary
A full time, non-exempt position responsible for assisting the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients of the center. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Interacts with patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner
* Processes patients on arrival, verifying and updating patient information
* Processes patients prior to departure from the clinic and directing them to schedule next appointment, pay account balances, etc.
* Screens phone calls and relays accurate messages to the Staff Dentist and/or Dental Director
* Operates the computer system efficiently to complete daily tasks
* Monitors patient flow, and assists the Dental Director, dentist(s), and dental hygienist(s) in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed
* If first person to arrive, turn on computers, units, pump, and compressor. Same procedure is followed for turning off equipment at end of day
* Prepares operatory for patient treatment as per Dental Department protocols and the dentist's directions
* Seats patients and records vital signs (i.e. Blood pressure, pulse, etc.)
* Serves as dentist's or dental hygienist's chair-side assistant
* If certified, perform coronal polishing for scheduled patients. Also, provide sealants to scheduled patients at the discretion of the supervising dentist
* Make accurate entries in the patient chart per the dentist's instructions
* Expose dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and law as well as Dental Department directive and protocol

Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Certified Dental Assistant from an accredited program is preferred
* Dental Assistant Radiographer Certificate required
* Coronal Polishing Certificate and can place pit and fissure sealants preferred
* Current CPR (BLS) required
