The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) is on the hunt for dynamic and passionate individual to join our dental team as a Dental Assistant at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon. As a Dental Assistant for the Department of Corrections, you will work with our experienced Dentists to provide basic dental services, in a compassionate and professional manner, to our inmate population. In this role, you will be assisting a Dentist during the examination and treatment of patients; scheduling appointments; managing daily patient flow; maintaining dental records; providing chair side assistance; maintaining dental office equipment; and performing dental laboratory procedures. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in a dental office or clinic; or Successful completion of an accredited Dental Assisting certificate program; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: This position requires successful completion of the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
