The Director of Student Support for the dental school at Yeshiva University will lead initiatives to foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes student well-being, academic success, and professional growth. This role will oversee the development and delivery of student support services, including academic advising, wellness programs, and career guidance. Reporting to the Dean, the Director of Student Support will collaborate with faculty, administration, and student organizations to ensure a high-quality student experience that aligns with the schools mission and values. Position Responsibilities: Student Advising and Guidance: Provide strategic oversight for academic advising, career counseling, and personal support services to enhance student success and development. Wellness and Student Resources: Develop and implement programs focused on student mental health, resilience, and overall well-being, ensuring students have access to necessary resources. Career Development and Placement: Oversee career services initiatives that support students professional aspirations, including workshops, networking opportunities, and job placement resources. Student Engagement and Inclusion: Create programs and activities that promote student engagement, inclusion, and community within the dental school, fostering a supportive learning environment. Orientation and Transition Programs: Coordinate new student orientation and transition support programs, helping students acclimate to the dental school and its academic rigor. Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce policies related to student support services, ensuring alignment with university standards and regulatory requirements. Collaboration and Partnership: Work closely with faculty, administrators, and external partners to align student support initiatives with academic objectives and provide a holistic approach to student success. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to student support services, using insights to improve programs and report on student success metrics. Experience & Education Background: Masters degree in Education, Counseling, or related field. At least 3- 5 years of experience in student services. Graduate level school is a plus. Skills & Competencies: Leadership and Team Development: Demonstrated experience in leading a team, with a focus on motivating and developing staff within a student support framework. Student-Centered Approach: Strong commitment to supporting student needs and promoting an environment that encourages student growth, well-being, and academic success. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to address student issues with empathy, sound judgment, and adaptability in a dynamic academic environment. Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in analyzing data related to student outcomes and using insights to inform and improve student support programs. Knowledge of Student Affairs: Familiarity with best practices in student support, career services, and mental health resources within a higher education or professional school setting. Cultural Competency and Inclusion: Dedication to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment that meets the needs of all students.
