Job Title: Dental Hygienist
Position Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing preventive dental care, educating patients on oral hygiene, and assisting the dentist during procedures. The Dental Hygienist will play a key role in maintaining the overall oral health of our patients and ensuring a comfortable and positive experience at every visit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and root planing, to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
- Take dental X-rays and develop them according to safety protocols.
- Screen patients for oral diseases and document findings for the dentist's review.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and diet recommendations.
- Apply fluoride treatments and sealants to prevent tooth decay.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments by preparing instruments and materials, and providing suction when necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical and dental histories.
- Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and treatment areas to comply with safety regulations.
- Create a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort during procedures.
- Stay updated on the latest dental hygiene techniques and continue professional development through courses and training.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene or equivalent from an accredited program.
- Current state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within a specified time).
- Previous experience as a Dental Hygienist preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
- Proficiency in dental hygiene procedures, including the use of ultrasonic equipment and hand instruments.
- Ability to take and develop dental radiographs.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and interact effectively with patients.
- Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and precision in performing dental tasks.
- Ability to lift and handle dental equipment when needed.
Compensation:
$50.00 - $60.00 / hour based on experience
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
