MAHEC Dentistry Oral Health/ UNC@MAHEC seeks a NC-licensed practicing Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon to become a clinical instructor for our General Practice Residents and D4 UNC Adams School of Dentistry Scholars. This attending faculty member will supervise and assist surgeries limited to difficult level appropriate to the learners' abilities. Surgeries will occur within our Biltmore Campus clinical site, with potential for more opportunities in our Columbus clinic if mutually agreed upon by the faculty member and leadership. Possible didactic curriculum opportunities, and adjunct faculty status with UNC Adams School of Dentistry, are also part of this position. This is a PRN position. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends, supervises and instructs GPR residents and UNC Adams School of Dentistry students
- Provides care to patients on an as needed basis
- Examines patients with learners as requested and in compliance with resident training standards and payor contracts
- Completes documentation as needed
- Is available to consult with hygienists, dental assistants, and business office staff
- Completes worklists and documentation tasks as assigned by leadership
- Reviewing and signing off on resident/student notes
- Assist in treatment planning and procedures
- When attending, is present in clinic until all patient care is completed and patients have exited their care location
- Participates in faculty meetings and communicates regularly with faculty and leadership

SPECIFIED SKILLS - Proficiency in communication software such as Outlook, WebEx/Zoom, and Word is required.
- Experience with or ability to utilize electronic medical record applications including but not limited to Dentrix Enterprise, MiPacs, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs, Push/Pull 50 - 100 lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)
- Occasional (0 - 33% of Workday); bending, standing, twisting, sitting
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - Experience in General Dentistry patient care training and skills
- Experience in GPR residency programs
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer interest and experience in dental resident & student teaching
REQUIRED LICENSES: - License to practice Dentistry in North Carolina, or
- Teaching/Instructors Licensure in Dentistry in North Carolina
