FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Physical Therapy at Hunter College, The City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for the Department Chairperson. Applicants must hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor within a physical therapy education program.
We seek a visionary leader with strong communication and listening skills, a track record of innovation and creativity, and a compassionate approach. The ideal candidate will be a respected educator and scholar.
The Department Chairperson will ensure the program meets and exceeds all Hunter College and CAPTE requirements including long-range strategic planning, curriculum management, finance and resource administration, and faculty/student engagement and support. The Chairperson will represent the Department within and outside the college and will participate in college-wide and external committees and professional organizations.
The Chairperson will enhance the Department's visibility and vitality and contribute to professional service at the local, regional and national levels. As a member of the faculty, the Department Chairperson will be involved in teaching in their area of expertise and will maintain an active research agenda.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Administering all operations of the Department
* Overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the program, maintaining the welfare of the faculty, staff and students, and the health and safety of all users of the area
* Arranging schedule of classes and assigning core and adjunct faculty teaching
* Planning for, and participating, in student advisement
* Preparing and managing the department budget
* Leading the admissions process
* Maintaining contacts with alumni and organizations employing program graduates
* Supporting faculty research
* Facilitating student recruitment
About the Hunter College Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is part of the Hunter College School of Health Professions. Currently located at the Brookdale Campus, on the east side of Manhattan, the Department will be moving to newly renovated space at the main campus for a transitional period while SPARC, the Science Park and Research Center, is built. SPARC will house new, state of the art, facilities for the School of Health Professions.
The Department enjoys strong support from all levels of administration. The Chairperson has access to various streams of financial support, facilitating an enhanced environment for the faculty and students.
The DPT Program has dedicated classroom/laboratory space, individual faculty offices, conference meeting rooms, and a Movement Analysis Lab with state-of-the-art technology including ViconTM 12-camera motion tracking system, ZenoTM walkway system, AMTITM force plates, and more. Faculty have access to the New York Simulation Center for the Health Sciences (NYSIM) and enjoy inter-professional teaching opportunities across CUNY campuses. The PT Department and faculty enjoy research, teaching collaborations, and clinical affiliations with major medical centers throughout the tristate and metropolitan area. The DPT Program is CAPTE accredited through 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS
* PhD, EdD, DSc or equivalent
* Prior teaching experience of at least 5 years at a CAPTE accredited program
* Prior clinical experience of at least 5 years in a specialty area of physical therapy practice
* A record of scholarly activity and an established research agenda
* A record of student mentorship
* History of leadership and administrative experience
* History of active participation in the American Physical Therapy Association and/or other professional organizations
* Holds an active PT license and is eligible for licensure in New York State
* Board certification in a specialty area of practice preferred
COMPENSATION
CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
This is a tenure track position with title (Associate Professor or Professor) and salary commensurate with experience. Associate Professor up to $117,805 as per 2022 CUNY contract, or Full Professor up to $141,858, as per 2022 CUNY contract.
