Position Summary:
Manage all aspects of the Melting Department at Pressware. Lead actions to meet and exceed plant objectives for Safety, Cost Reduction, Product Quality and Manufacturing Efficiencies for Vitrelle/Corelle production.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Full accountability for Safety in the Department (including Batch, Mixing and Cave)
* Develop yearly budget and control spending to determined targets
* Manage daily operations of all Melting related functions. This includes raw materials receipt, mixing and chemistry operations, batch delivery, melting process operations, glass delivery, precious metals management, rebuild/repair preparation, and glass quality parameters.
* Develop team: Includes and is not limited to training, coaching/mentoring, career path and succession planning and providing educational opportunities as methods of professional development.
* Oversees the Melting Department direct reports processes and procedures for the hourly workforce. Participates in grievances and provide guidance and resolutions at their applicable level.
* Lead layer process audits and champion at least one cost savings initiative for the department (utilizing a formal methodology).
* Collaborates with the Advanced Technology team regarding Tank Rebuilds approximately every 2 to 3 years) and equipment repairs.
* Provide leadership for On-call Teams
* Assist in the preparation of Purchase Orders
Qualifications:
BS Engineering (prefer Ceramic/Glass Engineering)
Minimum of five (5) years of experience including, but not limited to working in manufacturing among a union environment.
Experience in a glass-making role at the Department Head level is a plus. Minimally, section/line/technology leadership for a glass factory.
Ability to make decisions, troubleshoot, problem solve and multi-task.
Good verbal/written communication skills
Strong leadership and people skills
Knowledge of 5S and 6-Sigma programs (preferred)
Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word/Outlook (preferred)

Comp Range: $107k-$136,5k
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
