Job Summary/Basic Function
Provide secretarial support for the Department of History, the Department of Philosophy and Department ofEconomics in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, working directly with Chairs of all three Departments.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to the Department Chairs.
* Support Department Chairs in preparation of course schedules and appointment forms.
* Answer phones, emails and greet visitors.
* Assist prospective students, current students, or other stakeholders.
* Act as a resource person regarding policies or practices of the Departments and the University.
* Assist Departments with webpage maintenance.
* Collect and publish semester hours of all faculty.
* Take and transcribe minutes of the Departments' meetings.
* Hire and supervise graduate and undergraduate student employees.
* Prepare student payroll.
* Maintain Departmental budget records.
* Order all office supplies for the Departments.
* Assist faculty with processing of travel requests and travel expense vouchers.
* Arrange travel and overnight lodging for invited lecturers, external reviewers, etc..
* Assist in arranging social events for the Departments by working with catering, facilities, etc..
* Prepare all forms for the hiring of professors/adjuncts and make sure their files are complete.
* Perform administrative duties related specifically to the Conference on the Holocaust and Genocide, Marauder Fund and the African American Studies minor, as necessary and appropriate.
* Serve as resource liaison for student clubs that are generated from both Departments, including other student clubs whose advisor teaches in either Department.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by Department Chairs.
* All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
* Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 OR graduation from high school OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
* Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams.
* Ability to:
* proofread information for conformance with prescribed standards.

Preferred Qualifications
* Prior professional work experience in an academic setting.
* Prior experience using specific systems (Banner, SAP, Zoom, etc.).
* 2 years of full-time secretarial-specific experience .
Essential Functions
* Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
* Ability to sit for long lengths of time.
* Extensive writing and verbal communications skills.
* Basic and advanced math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, percentages, formulas, equations).
* Understanding of written directions.
* Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 10 pounds.
* Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
