Job Description:

The Suffolk County Police Department, an accredited law enforcement agency, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Commissioner. Qualified candidates must have a Master's Degree in a leadership or law enforcement related field, and a minimum of twelve years of executive administrative, operational, and investigative experience in a state or local law enforcement agency with sworn staff of at least 7,000 members. Qualified candidates must also have substantial supervisory and leadership training and experience, and unblemished personnel records consistent with the mission and values of the Suffolk County Police Department. Qualified candidates will also have at least seven years of experience in interagency coordination, including leading successful joint exercises and operations, investigations, task forces, and/or intelligence partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies. The successful candidate will be a problem solver and innovative thinker with a strong record of effectiveness in crime control, crisis communications, counterterrorism, risk and threat assessment, as well as organizational change management, including significant experience developing and implementing Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Plans pursuant to New York State Executive Order 203.
