Job Summary
This position performs clerical and customer service duties in support of the operations of the County Clerk's Office.
Major Duties
* Provides customer service; provides information and assistance to callers and visitors.
* Verify eligibility of documents prior to being recorded as required by legal statute.
* Cashier and record legal documents in person and electronically and reconcile cash drawers with daily cashier closeout.
* Index and verify legal documents that are recorded and scanned into Official Public Records.
* Assist customers in locating documents filed in Official Public Records which include; deeds, liens, plats, etc.
* Issue and record marriage licenses.
* Issue vital statistic records such as marriage records, DD-214 records, and birth/death certificates in compliance with Texas Department of State Health Services guidelines.
* Certify liquor licenses in compliance with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission guidelines.
* Record Marks & Brands in compliance with Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association guidelines.
* Provide customers with certified and non-certified copies of public and court records.
* Perform daily uploads of images and indexes to title companies.
* Process incoming and outgoing mail.
* Must also possess basic knowledge of case management system in order to assist the public with information.
* Must be willing and able to accept cross-training and work assignments within the department.
* Maintain oath of confidentiality.
* Performs any other duties as assigned.

* Knowledge of the procedures and protocols of the County Clerk's Office.
* Knowledge of modern office procedures.
* Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal laws.
* Knowledge of court policies and procedures.
* Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
* Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports.
* Skill in oral and written communication.
* Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Minimum Qualifications
* Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
* Minimum of one ( 1 ) year of work experience.
* Must be able to type 30 wpm.

* The work consists of related customer service and clerical duties. The variety of tasks to be performed contributes to the complexity of the position.
* The purpose of this position is to assist in the provision of clerical services in support of department operations. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.

* Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required.
* This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
