CLASSIFICATION TITLE:Deputy Court AdministratorSALARY:$110,076.65 - $142,374.96DEPARTMENT:Circuit CourtOpening Date:12/18/2024Closing Date:01/18/2025 12:00 a.m.2025 Salary Range: $113,378.95 - $146.646.21FLSA Status: ExemptEmployment Relationship: At-WillGENERAL SUMMARY Performs a variety of high level administrative, managerial, and supervisory duties and functions in the operation and organization of the Circuit Court Division, including personnel management, fiscal management, case flow management, grant administration, and space and equipment management.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESONSIBILTITES Determines the goals, objectives, and operational priorities of the Circuit Court Civil/Criminal Division.Partners with subordinate supervisors to plan, direct, and make staffing decisions for the Circuit Court Division.Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.Assists in human resource functions of the Court.Creates, evaluates, and revises Circuit Court Civil/Criminal Division policies and procedures.Provides administrative and/or legal advice to the Circuit Court Judges, all divisions of the Circuit Court and Court Section of the County's Clerk Office regarding the handling of court documents, court policies, court procedures and compliance with the law.Serves as liaison with Macomb County Division budget and approves all departmental expenditures and purchases.Analyzes the departmental workflows and efficiencies.Drafts local administrative order and local court rules as required.Drafts press releases and manages social media accounts for the Court.Prepare various reports relating to the Circuit Court Division operations.Evaluates and prioritizes the needs of the department in staffing, equipment, technology facilities, and security.Operates an automobile while performing assigned job duties.Performs related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSRequired Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a directly related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in governmental, organization or business administration, preferably in an activity related to legal and/or court functions.
  • Previous supervisory experience within a union environment
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Mater's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a directly related field
  • Juris Doctor Degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
  • Previous supervisory experience within a union environment
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
Preferred Licenses or Certifications
  • Current membership in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
  • A certification in Judicial Administration, or a Certified Court Executive and Fellow of the Institute for Court Management

  • Maintain current knowledge on office equipment and technology, including personal computers and applications sufficient to research, draft memorandums, and produce reports
  • Exercise independent and sound judgment and initiative in analyzing problems and recommending solutions
  • Compile statistics, decipher pertinent information, and present oral and written financial, operational and other types of departmental reports to officials and other interested groups or individuals

  • Effectively speak, write and understand the English language
  • Effectively speak, write and understand a language other than English is preferred
