Job Description:
A Brief Overview The Deputy Director, Security oversees the day-to-day operations of the hospital's security, parking, and transportation to provide a safe and secure environment. Reviews investigations and assists in resolution of all security, parking, and transportation issues professionally. Creates and disseminates policies within the Security department. Maintains a positive image for Regional One Health. Serves as backup to other members of the Security Department. Performs other duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department and Regional One Health. What will you do?
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the hospital's security, parking and transportation operations to provide a safe and secure environment. Acts on behalf of the Director when Director is not available. Assists with the timely and thorough investigation of all security-related issues and development of appropriate responses. Ensures immediate communication of unusual events to senior hospital administration. Participate in the development and maintenance of effective site access control policies and procedures utilizing personnel badging, vehicle parking tags, perimeter fencing, guard posts, roving patrols, facility access systems, surveillance cameras, and other appropriate methods. Analyzes security problems and trends to monitor programmatic, policy, and procedural performance. Assists with determining security system requirements and recommends and implements appropriate additions or changes to ensure a safe and secure hospital environment. Participates in development, management and monitoring of the department's capital and operating budgets.
  • Responsible for training and development of all assigned staff; recommend hiring, recognition, and termination of staff. Responsible for setting clear expectations and ensuring compliance with departmental and hospital rules, norms, policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and communication of policies and procedures, responses to emergent situations, and performance of security risk assessments. Collaborates with other departmental leaders and subject-matter experts to draft policies and procedures. Ensures policies and procedures are properly maintained. Communicates policies and procedures to appropriate personnel and ensures applicable modifications to policies and procedures are communicated effectively. Assists the Director in ensuring compliance with all appropriate regulatory agency requirements.
  • Assists the Director with oversight of parking and transportation programs. Responds effectively and in a timely manner to rapidly changing parking needs. Regularly surveys the use of available parking and transportation assets to ensure effective utilization. Develops plan for long-term needs.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance; Demonstrates flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in security management, business management or related field is required.
  • Twelve (12) years of prior experience in security, security management, law enforcement, or military may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license issued in the state of residence. Shall not have been convicted of any alcohol or drug related offenses within the last 3 years and be insurable by Regional One Health's insurance carrier. Required
  • Must attain a Tennessee Armed Security Guard/Officer license within 180 Days Required
  • Certified Protection Professional certified by the American Society for Industrial Security, or Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor certified by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety is Preferred.
  • -Must pass a background check, DMV check, drug screening, and hospital screening and immunization requirements. -Must comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.
  • At least 8 years experience in security, law enforcement, or equivalent military experience with a minimum of four (4) years of law enforcement/security management or military leadership is required.
