Introduction The Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is recruiting to fill their Deputy Division Administrator position which oversees the day to day operations as well as long and short term planning for the five DTSD Bureaus and division as a whole. This position can be headquartered in any of the following cities at the department office locations: Eau Claire, Green Bay, Madison, La Crosse, Superior, Wisconsin Rapids, Rhinelander, Waukesha. This position is required to travel frequently to Madison on weekly basis. Additional information regarding travel will be discussed during the interview. Position Summary This position is an executive leader within the Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) and oversees the operations for the seven DTSD Bureaus, as well as is involved in the short and long term planning for the division as a whole. This position is responsible for the administration, direction, planning, and coordination of the programs, policies, laws, rules and activities impacting the entire division. Other responsibilities include:
- Assuming the responsibility and full authority of the Administrator whenever necessary
- Responsibility for developing the division's biennial budget and implementing its operating budget for the Bureau offices
- Acting as a liaison to other WisDOT divisions and external partners
- Directly supervising 8 Bureau Directors and Deputy Directors
Salary Information This position is in schedule-range (81-01) with an annual salary of $112,320 - $138,424, plus excellent benefits. A 2 year career executive trial period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details Travel may be required on a weekly basis for necessary meetings. WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. Qualifications Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:
- Significant supervisory experience that includes overseeing a variety of professional staff and program areas, and includes experience performing a wide scope of management duties
- Experience managing multiple program areas which have stakeholder impacts and/or involves very public profiles issues
- Experience managing resources over several program areas
In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following:

- Significant experience communicating information/decisions at high levels across multiple agencies
