Duties Description The Inspector General's Office is responsible for the investigation and elimination of infractions of disciplinary standards, criminal activities, conflicts of interest, misconduct, misfeasance, and incompetence on the part of nonjudicial employees of the UCS, and persons or corporations doing business with the UCS, with respect to their dealings with the courts.Duties include but are not limited to: assisting with managing the IG's Office including staff assigned to the Bias Matters and Fiduciary Appointments Units; acting as a liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement and regulatory agencies; overseeing and conducting investigations of complaints; assisting with the preparation of administrative reports, memoranda, and documents required of the IG's Office. Candidates should have expert knowledge of investigative and fact-finding techniques, the administrative rules of the UCS, excellent communication and writing skills, a proven track record of leadership, ability to train, supervise and coordinate the activities of subordinate staff, and demonstrated experience handling sensitive matters on a confidential basis. Some travel throughout New York State is required.Under the direction of the Inspector General, the Deputy Inspector General is responsible for assisting in the oversight of investigation into complaints of misconduct and incompetence, bias, and fiduciary appointment matters, and acting as a liaison with outside law enforcement agencies on court-related matters. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of investigative experience in a court or court agency, a police department, a district attorney's office or a similar agency; Master's degree in Public Administration or Business Administration from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of investigative experience in a court or court agency, a police department, a district attorney's office or a similar agency; or Law degree and Admission to the Bar and five (5) years of investigative experience in a court or court agency, a police department, a district attorney's office or a similar agency; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
