Examples of Duties
- Preserves the peace, protects life and property, and enforces the laws of this state.
- Patrol assigned area and respond to criminal and civil calls as dispatched.
- Apprehend violators of the law, perform vacant house and business checks.
- Control traffic and maintain assigned vehicle and other equipment.
- Prepare accurate and complete reports applicable to the situation.
- Maintains the safety, order, and security of county court facilities and assigned county buildings, including providing courtroom security during trials.
- Escorts judges, jurors, witnesses, or court staff when necessary for their protection.
- Maintain security and control of prisoners/inmates in all county court facilities.
- Escorts or transports prisoners/inmates to assigned locations.
Typical Qualifications
- 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Peace Officer by the Ohio Peace Officers' Training Commission per Ohio Administrative Code
- Ability to meet established physical and training requirements for standing, using stairways, running, lifting light to heavy objects, and protecting self and others against physical assault
- A valid driver's license
