Responsibilities may include responding to requests for assistance from the public; preventing traffic and water craft accidents and deterring violators; investigating accidents and criminal incidents; preparing incident reports; receiving, processing, recording, storing, maintaining and releasing evidence and protecting crime scenes.A shift differential of $1.25 per hour may apply.Job DutiesPatrols an assigned area to enforce local, State, and Federal laws; investigates crimes and accidents; collects evidence; interviews witnesses and suspects; surveys traffic; prevents accidents; conducts security checks and search warrants; makes arrests; issues citations; and/or protects crime scenes.Responds to requests for assistance from the public, including collecting information, assisting with possible medical emergencies or other convenience services, mediating disputes, and determining need for further action.Prepares, maintains, updates, and/or submits reports related to day-to-day activities utilizing established procedures and guidelines; and retrieves, receives, processes, records, stores, maintains, and releases evidence.Ensures the security and order of the court; presents evidence, provides recommendations, and testifies in court; performs duties pertaining to court order execution, including serving legal documents or warrants, and transporting prisoners.Operates and/or maintains vehicles, equipment, and/or specialized weapons to conduct law enforcement activities, including, driving emergency vehicles; rescuing hostages; performing underwater search and recovery of evidence.QualificationsAssociate's degree or two-year technical certificate in Law Enforcement or related field.Peace Officers Standards and Training License or eligible to be licensed at time of appointment.
