Description The Design Engineer will develop custom designs for distribution transformers meeting customer requirements, industry standards, and company internal standards and procedures.
- Use measurements taken from operations to design a distribution transformer that meets specifications.
- Prepare documentation such as bill of materials, for departments, purchasing, sales, manufacture, test, etc.
- Quote Special materials for the transformer production as needed.
- Follow-up on manufacturing of approved designs, customer service, and testing
- Plan, conduct, coordinate and develop recommendations using advanced engineering concepts and processes.
- Evaluate requests for changes to production file, revise and re-issue file if corrections are necessary.
- Responsible for the use-up of certain surplus or obsolete material to exhaust inventory, as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience in design or research, including transformer manufacture support and customer service skills.
- Design experience with electrical systems
- Design experience with industrial power products.
- Experience in the following tools is required: Microsoft Office (Excel, word, power point, etc.), Auto-CAD.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos as well as write.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
