Job Summary:

As a Design Engineer for Legend Manufacturing, you'll be at the forefront of product development, owning the process from concept to completion, and sales support. You'll harmonize the efforts of a cross-functional team, collaborating with Production, Procurement, and Sales, to ensure every design delivers value to our customers and contributes to Legend's growth.
In this role, you'll combine creative problem-solving with hands on engineering expertise to design trailers that are not only functional and durable, but also industry leading in performance and aesthetics. From brainstorming innovative features to refining designs for manufacturability, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping products that set the standard in the market.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Designs highly interactive products used to transport diverse cargo including enclosed cargo trailers, open utility trailers, and RV's in a wide range of weight ratings.
- Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software (Solidworks) to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the products.
- Supports Sales team by answering requests for customization and providing footprints on an as-needed basis.
- Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production.
- Studies products and components, makes comparisons with similar designs, drives innovation for future models.
- Acts as project leader for engineering support staff (Drafter(s), Intern(s), etc.) to enable the team's productivity to reach new highs.
- Collaborates with appropriate production and process staff to understand the specifications sought for a particular application or product.
- Utilizes software to identify and recommend best materials to be used based on weight, strength, heat and cold tolerance, cost, and durability.
- Observes or participates in product testing process as appropriate.
- Collaborates with Legend team to ensure successful launch of new products.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Proficiency utilizing the CAD software, SolidWorks
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery throughout the production process.
