JOB SPECIFICATION: DESIGNER B Job No. 1712 Pay Group 22 Responsibilities: Under general supervision in the Engineering Department, to do design of electrical projects and to prepare and maintain related diagrams, prints, and records doing drafting work as required and perform such duties as:
- Work closely with Project Managers to develop the design of electrical projects and assist in the design of major parts of such projects;
- Develop and prepare project drawings and sets of drawings;
- Make engineering computations as required to check the adequacy of the designs;
- Assist in the preparation of engineering studies and reports, making engineering calculations as required;
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, budget requests, authority for expenditure papers, etc;
- Prepare bills of material for minor projects and assist in their preparation for major projects;
- Take measurements and other data in the field to support designs;
- Maintain electrical drawing database for historical records
Qualifications:
- Education in applicable engineering subjects;
- Training and working knowledge of CAD systems;
- Four years' experience in drafting, including elementary and advanced detailing. (Part college work will be given credit, as appropriate, toward the required experience time.);
- Knowledge of electrical equipment construction and documentation;
- Ability to handle, use and apply required mathematics;
- Full knowledge of, view and scale selection and drawing layout;
- Ability to work with and guide the work of others;
