Qualified candidates will be proficient in AutoCAD Plant3D. We are looking for candidates experienced with Plant3D modeling equipment, pipe routing, pipe supports, creating and implementing specifications, etc. Preferred candidates will also have experience with initial setup and configuration of Plant3D models for a facility, as well as model coordination during all phases of design and construction (i.e. knows how to set up the model, how to manage files so multiple people can edit and roll up into master file, etc.). Experience with MicroStation is also desired.Responsibilities
- Works to project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedure
- Coordinates work with that of others in discipline group and other discipline groups on the project
- Prepares complete information for design details, bill of materials, e, that can be distributed to other design or draft personnel for completion
- Understands project scope as presented within a specific discipline
- Ensures that designs are consistent with project technical requirements and scope
- Provides support for client's engineering deliverables
- Advises the Design Supervisor, Lead Designer or Supervising Discipline Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems
- Checks assigned drawings supplied by vendors, clients and other discipline groups throughout the project to ensure quality designs
- Provides technical guidance and assistance to other design and draft personnel and is responsible for neatness and accuracy of work
- Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned design tasks
- Plans and schedules design tasks associated with assigned project
- Keeps proper files and records related to assigned design activities
- Develops understanding of industry codes and standards
- Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with design assignments
- Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training
- Complies with company's safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies

- Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management and can review/advise on purchase orders and subcontracts
- Collects data on manpower, man-hour, and labor costs requirements for design staff to aid in evaluating the budget
- Intermediate knowledge of cost estimating methods and performs material take-offs for the discipline
- Intermediate knowledge of discipline's materials costs and concept of cost analysis and forecasting
- Basic knowledge of the project change control process and can identify a potential change
- Fully understands the discipline's equipment and material lists
- May provide technical guidance to less experienced design staff
- Exercises sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex design issues and uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions
- Understands and applies business development concepts and principles, financial terminology and measures, and provides support for proposals
- Leads or assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor costs requirements for design staff and monitors data to aid in evaluating the budget
- Intermediate knowledge of the project change control process, rationale and requirement, and identifies potential changes
- Full understanding of the discipline's equipment and material lists and instructs others in their use and requirements
- Prepares designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures
- Reviews completed work with design and drafting personnel responsible for its completion to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data
- Advises the Design Supervisor or Supervising Design Engineer (SDE) about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays, and adverse problems
- Understands and assists with the planning and scheduling of design tasks associated with assigned project
- Assists in interpreting industry codes, permits, and standards, and ensures design and drawing compliance
- Understands the role of each of the other disciplines in Engineering
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- 8 to 10+ years of experience
- Capability with 2D and/or 3D plant design is strongly recommended
