Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position will perform a variety of design, drafting and documentation functions, and work closely with the engineering staff on the design and modification of CAIREs Biomedical products. This position will perform engineering related tasks using CAD tools and other engineering programs. This position is fully onsite in our Buffalo, NY location.

Essential Functions

  • Works with engineering and manufacturing on new product designs and product modifications for all Bio-Medical products
  • Creates and revises Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks 3-D models and 2-D drawings for multiple product lines.
  • Maintains solid models and drawings through SolidWorks PDM.
  • Provides industrial design input for new products
  • Ensures models and drawings are dimensionally accurate based on the material specifications and verifies the fit-up of all related parts to each other and to the whole.
  • Works with engineering, quality control, purchasing, and manufacturing to determine the root cause and corrective actions for component/product issues.
  • Provides 3D and Cutaway renderings of products for literature, training, and instructional documentation.
  • Understands and practices the divisions ISP 13485 quality procedures.
  • Follows documented process for engineering changes.
  • Will occasionally assist engineering and production in the manufacturing of the products on the production floor. This will include the requirements to be able to use various hand tools and equipment needed to fabricate the products.
  • Help assist engineering in creating Engineering Change Orders or revises computerized bills of materials, routings, work instructions, part numbers and other design documentation for new and existing products and custom projects within the ERP software (JD Edwards E1) and Master Control Database.
  • Help assist engineering in identifying and working with vendors to have them design and/or supply components and/or documentation that are needed for our products.
  • Assist Marketing and Customer Service as needed to provide documentation needed by our customers. This includes drawings, illustrations, exploded assembly views, etc.
  • Design and document standard/custom assemblies, options, and kits for use on both standard product designs and custom projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma and minimum 5 years experience or Technical college degree plus 3 years experience.
  • Requires technical skill and extensive experience in Pro/Engineer, 2-D AutoCAD, and/or SolidWorks design software.
  • Requires skills for visualization of product lines for 2-D drawings and 3-D models.
  • Requires basic computer skills
  • Requires effective, detailed communication with both internal and external customers
  • Requires ability to focus on both small design details as well as the complete product modeling.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in drafting or other Engineering related field.
