Designer I, Women's Denim - Calvin Klein
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Denim Designer is responsible for supporting the design & development of the global offering for all Calvin Klein Women's Denim product categories. As a Designer, you will be an integral part of the team in supporting the creation of stylish and groundbreaking denim collections. Your role will involve assisting in the design process for conceptualizing and interpreting seasonal design direction, conducting research, and developing denim designs that align with the brand's vision, market trends, and customer preferences. You will collaborate with design, merchandising and supply partners, gain valuable experience, and play a meaningful role in elevating the brand's women's global denim offerings.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Design Support:
Partner with the senior designer to build sketches, illustrations, and technical drawings for garments, including jeans, jackets, shorts, skirts, shirts and dresses.
Leads in brainstorming sessions and concept conceptualization to develop new and innovative denim designs.
Build organized design development line sheets, charts and CADs.
Ability to meet overlapping turning points, strong time management skills and proactive problem solving.
Trend Research and Analysis:
Conduct research on denim trends, wash techniques, fabrications, and runway relevant to women's denim.
Stay updated with the latest market trends and customer preferences in women's denim fashion and fits.
Material and Wash Selection:
Conducts communicating development on fabrics, washes, trims, and embellishments for garment prototypes and production.
Works closely with supply and fabric team for sampling and fabric ordering.
Tech Pack Creation:
Responsible for creating detailed tech packs, design specifications and bill of material for denim development samples and production.
Supports design pass offs with technical design team from design details to construction.
Sample Review and Fit Sessions:
Collaboration and Communication:
Responsible for communication with cross-functional teams, including product developers and merchandisers, to ensure detailed execution of development and bulk.
Proactively communicates with design lead with status updates and timelines in a timely manner to ensure deadlines and needs are being meet.
Brand Alignment:
Understand and maintain the brand's design aesthetic and language in all women's denim products.
Collaborate with the design team and brand team to ensure consistency in storytelling and branding across denim collections.
Trend Presentation:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience :
5-7 years design experience
Denim fabric and wash knowledge
Skills:
Previous experience in corporate fashion design, preferably with a focus on women's denim or woven category.
Proficient in design software and tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Centric, PLM, Excel and Miro
Ability to meet overlapping deadlines, strong time management skills and proactive problem solving.
Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while staying flexible
Excellent communication skills and the ability to optimally present ideas
Encourage new challenges with optimism and perseverance.
Skilled in garment construction
Knowledge of denim fabrics, denim wash and fits
Pay Range:
PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting.
