Position Title Desk and Event Assistant Department Career Development Center Appointment Term Academic Year (August - May) FLSA Non-Exempt Job Summary
As key members of the Career Development Center (CDC) team, desk and event assistants will provide significant customer service to employers and students while helping plan, promote, and implement career-related events.
Essential Duties
* Attend staff meetings to provide ongoing training opportunities and promote staff communication and collaboration to provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders
* Demonstrate professionalism through acting with integrity and maintaining an image of neatness, efficiency, and organization by strictly following office opening/closing procedures, keeping work areas tidy, adhering to department dress code, etc.
* Perform general office duties such as greeting/assisting visitors, answering phones, processing mail, approval of job postings and employers, and helping collect and enter graduate outcome data.
* Serve as a supportive team member by being accountable for individual and team responsibilities and deliverables by assisting with planning, promoting, and implementing career-related events.
* Provide significant support in helping students edit resumes and cover letters. This requires the ability to critique resume content in terms of proofreading, format, and style without passing judgment on the author.
* Provide significant support to students, employers, and MWSU employees with career and employment software, such as Handshake, Big Interview, etc. This requires excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Degree Seeking
* At least an overall 2.0 GPA
* Enrolled at least part-time
* Must be eligible for Federal Work Study

* Ability to regularly report to work on time as scheduled.

Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
