Desktop Support Engineer – Contract
Location: New York, NY
Rate: Up to $80 per hour
Duration: 6 months minimum (with strong likelihood of extension)
Onsite: 4 days per week
We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Support Engineer to join an elite macro trading organization in New York. This is a contract position offering an excellent hourly rate and the chance to work in a fast-paced, high-performing environment. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the trading floor and ensuring the smooth operation of the technology systems that underpin critical trading activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive desktop support to users on the trading floor, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with urgency and precision.
- Support and manage market data applications, including but not limited to Bloomberg and other trading platforms.
- Develop, maintain, and improve scripts using PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks and enhance overall system efficiency.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and swift resolution of escalated issues.
- Manage and support hardware (desktops, laptops, peripherals) and software installations, configurations, and updates.
- Document technical issues, resolutions, and procedures to contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Desktop Support Engineer role, ideally within the financial services industry or a trading environment.
- Strong familiarity with market data applications, particularly Bloomberg Terminal and similar tools.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation for task optimization and process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, with a focus on supporting critical trading operations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with traders and stakeholders at all levels.
- Availability to work onsite 4 days a week in the New York office.
