Job Description:
Desktop Support Specialist Intro Procom, on behalf of our client, is seeking a skilled Desktop Support Specialist to provide Tier 1 support for desktop and laptop computers. This role is critical in maintaining smooth operations across the organization by offering hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for hardware and software systems. The Desktop Support Specialist will address customer issues, perform software and hardware installations, and ensure the effective configuration and operation of IT equipment. Desktop Support Specialist Job Details - Provide Tier 1 (intermediate-level) support for desktop and laptop computers, assisting users with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. - Install, configure, and maintain both hardware and software systems, including operating systems, applications, and peripheral devices. - Identify and initiate resolutions to common desktop and laptop problems, ensuring timely service to end users. - Perform basic troubleshooting of network-related issues, utilizing knowledge of PC networking concepts and Windows Active Directory. - Support and maintain audiovisual equipment, such as LCD projectors and monitors. - Configure, support, and maintain printers and plotters, ensuring these devices operate efficiently. - Provide ongoing support for Microsoft Office products, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project. - Collaborate with the IT team to escalate and resolve more complex technical issues as necessary. Desktop Support Specialist Mandatory Skills - Education: Associate Degree in Computer Maintenance Technology, Computer Help Desk Specialist, Computer Network Administration, or a related field from an accredited university. OR Equivalent relevant work experience in an IT technical environment. - Technical Expertise: - Experience in installation, configuration, support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of personal computers and related hardware. - Basic knowledge of PC networking concepts and terminology, with familiarity in Windows Active Directory. - Familiarity with audiovisual equipment, such as LCD projectors, monitors, printers, and plotters. - Proficiency in supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project. Desktop Support Specialist Desired Skills - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues. - Excellent communication skills to effectively assist end users and explain technical issues in non-technical terms. - Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. - Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in performing technical tasks. - Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines and service-level agreements.
