Job Description:

Position Title: Desktop Support Technician II FLSA Status: Exempt

Responsible to: Technology Director Supervises: None

Evaluated by: Technology Director

Terms of Employment: 12 months

Evaluation Period:

* Formative evaluations throughout the school year as per WCS Performance and Assessment Procedures.

* Annual summative evaluation prior to July 1.

Purpose of the Position: Under the leadership of the Technology Director, the Desktop Support Technician II serves as the primary support person for any technology-related issues. The Desktop Support Technician II will assist with the set up and installation of new hardware, software, or components and will be expected to work independently and collaboratively at the direction of the Technology Director.

Minimum Requirements: The following are the qualifications and minimum requirements necessary for a person to perform this job.

* 3-5 years broad technical experience in a mixed platform environment

* Associates degree or higher in a related field or equivalent certifications

* Demonstrated fluency in common software such as Microsoft Office and Windows

* Develop appropriate training materials for school personnel

* Strong organizational and leadership skills

* Excellent communication skills both oral and written

Essential Functions of the Position: The following functions have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position.

Resolve technology issues escalated by Desktop Support Technician I

Document problems using help desk support system

Support users so they can efficiently use computers, Windows-based tablets, iOS devices, printers, telephones, and related equipment

Collaborate with the Technology Department to support the environment and maintain high quality of service

Contact vendors to repair equipment under warranty (return, or replace as directed by vendor)

Serve as a resource person for technical information, services, and providers

Assist in the recycling, upgrade, re-use, or discontinuation of existing technology

Help troubleshoot technology issues related to online testing

Maintain classroom projectors

Maintain security cameras

Remain current with technology; take advantage of training when offered

Install and configure new technology

Provide a first-class level of service to all users

Secondary Functions of the Position: The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position.

* Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Technology Director.

Knowledge of:

* Policies, procedures and functions, management

* Policies, procedures and functions of Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Trustees and the Indiana Department of Education

* Applicable software and applications

Ability to:

* Plan, organize, and schedule priorities.

* Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems.

* Discreetly handle confidential and politically sensitive matters.

* Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

* Tactfully and courteously respond to requests and inquiries/complaints from the general public and staff.

* Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.

Physical Demands:

* Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

* Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch.

* Must be able to hear and speak clearly.

* Must be able to lift items of 50 lbs. occasionally.
