Luna Innovations is working to enhance the safety, security and connectivity of people by leverage our expertise in fiber-optic based technology and the information it provides. We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician in our Blacksburg, VA location to support employees in multiple locations, based primarily in the US. With primarily Windows client / server environments, the role will be tasked with performing assignments related to supporting Luna's technical environment, assisting users resolve problems, and managing deployment of new equipment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues encountered by users, in person or remotely.
* Respond to helpdesk tickets and calls, and escalate issues as needed.
* Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information to develop alternative solutions.
* Perform necessary troubleshooting of desktop, laptop, and peripheral devices.
* Identify opportunities for system and process improvement.
* Assist in the selection, procurement, and deployment of new equipment.
* Coordinate troubleshooting and escalation activities with outside vendors and support providers as appropriate.
* Respond politely and promptly to end-user requests for service and assistance.
* Identify opportunities to develop or improve documentation or training materials.
* Monitor systems daily and respond immediately to any security or usability concerns.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* 1-2 years of experience as a Helpdesk Support Technician or similar role
* 1+ years of experience with Office 365
* Basic networking knowledge
* Ability to effectively work across multiple Windows operating systems
* Resourcefulness and problem-solving attitude
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; or an Associate's degree with requisite experience
* Experience with Linux and Mac
* CompTIA A+ and/or Microsoft certifications
