DETENTION DEPUTY at Benewah County in St Maries, Idaho, United States Job Description Supervise all inmate activities inside and outside the facility including visitation, medical, various evaluations and treatment, court appearances, attorney meetings, and other activities as required. Interact with inmates to gather data necessary to process and classify inmates; build, maintain and update physical and electronic records through day-to-day tasks and intake / release process. Communicate with inmates to ensure that the facility rules and policies are followed and that appropriate action is taken when violated using due-process, as well as answering questions, grievances and requests in a timely and proper manner. Execute court orders, arrest warrants, transports, and extraditions in other jurisdictions. Handle disciplinary problems, write incident reports, and charge new law violations when necessary. Respond to telephone inquiries and/or greet the public, law enforcement personnel, and members of the Criminal Justice system; them to the appropriate personnel when needed. Interact with court personnel, public, and other law enforcement agencies regarding inmate status. Guard inmates in jail in accordance with established regulations and procedures. May guard prisoners in transit between jail, courtroom, prison, or other point. Must be available for any shift. Must be able to pass background check. Must be able to meet POST standards and pass test within one year of hire. Will work full time; shifts will vary. Competitive pay with excellent benefit pkg.
