The Yolo County Probation department is recruiting to fill six (6) positions in the class of Detention Officer - Extra Help. THE POSITIONPositions will be filled as Extra-Help. Extra Help hires are temporary employees who provide coverage for periods of limited duration and are paid on an hourly basis. This assignment is limited to 1000 working hours per year. Employees must be availableto work a minimum of three shifts per weekwith at least one of the shifts occurring on the weekend. Shifts at the Juvenile Detention Facility consist of Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:00pm, Mid Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm, and Night Shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am. Juvenile Detention Facility (JDF)The Juvenile Detention Facility provides detention services for purposes of public safety and which meet the education, treatment and programming needs of youth adjudicated to detention. As advocates for these youth, the JDF provides a safe and healthy environment where youth have the opportunity for personal growth and development of life skills to build positive bridges to the community. Detention Officer extra help employees assigned to the JDF work directly with the youth in the facility providing supervision, observing behavior, giving direction to the youth, overseeing programming, monitoring for safety and security, providing direction and mentorship to youth in the facility, assisting with overall light maintenance of the facility.Alternative Sentencing Program (ASP)The Alternative Sentencing Program contracts and performs landscape maintenance work for non-profit and government agencies to allow Court-ordered defendants an opportunity to perform work duties in lieu of incarceration. This program provides offenders a sense of social responsibility and self-reliance, and allows them to remain out-of-custody and to work and/or attend school and keep family units intact.
