POSITION TITLE: Development and Communications Associate DEPARTMENT: Development and Communications LOCATION(S): 175 Delancey Street, New York, NY 10002 REPORTS TO: Development and Communications ManagerSALARY RANGE: $55,000- $65,000 DATE: August 2024 SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm, or 9 am-5 pm. The schedule may vary due to department needs.JOB SUMMARY: The Development and Communications Associate is a key member of Grand Street's Development and Communications team, responsible for supporting and executing fundraising initiatives and strategies that drive the organization's growth and sustainability. This role involves a mix of administrative support, donor relations, communications and data management, all aimed at increasing the organization's capacity to fulfill its mission. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about our mission.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Passion for Grand Street Settlement's mission
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft compelling content for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) and social media platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team showing both strong initiatives to reach individual goals as well as supports the overall team goals
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and web management platforms (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace)
- Fluency in Spanish or Chinese is a plus
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Fundraising:
- Under the direction of the Development Manager, maintain accurate constituent data, ensuring detailed records are kept of donor communication and outreach activities.
- Process donations accurately and in a timely manner; ensure all gifts are promptly acknowledged.
- Assist with the identification and cultivation of new funding opportunities, including foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, major gifts, and individual giving campaigns.
- Maintain a calendar for donor communications with the goal of engaging current donors, recruiting new supporters and contributing to overall fundraising success.
- Represent the organization at events, meetings, and networking opportunities to promote its mission and programs.
- Support the team with other projects and events as needed
Communications:
- Monitor and protect Grand Street's branding guidelines, messaging, design, and content.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute social media, email marketing, print collateral, and other communications needs for fundraising campaigns including Taste of the Lower East Side, Grand Street's Golf Classic, and Let's Pretend.
- Assist with social media and email marketing (internal and external) as needed.
- Assist with special projects not mentioned above including public relations, videography and photography, merchandise, signage, or other agency needs.
Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the Development and Communications team, including processing invoices, coordinating meetings, etc.

- Successfully clear; NYS DOI Fingerprint Screening, NYS Central Registry Clearance, Sex Offender Registry Clearance
