Our mission is to engage all children in the support they need to succeed. We are looking for a full-time Development Associate who will work in a positive, mission-driven environment. This position reports to the Development Director and works collaboratively with other leaders in the organization and region to ensure strong donor and fundraising relations. The Development Associate plays a key role by providing administrative support to the Communications and Development Department, and participating in all fundraising activities including donor relations, marketing and communications, direct mail appeals, and special events. It is a critical function that is essential to meeting the mission of engaging all children in the support they need to succeed. Successful candidates will possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college in the area of business or nonprofit management, marketing or communications, plus two years' experience in a related position. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Development and Director of Communications in the execution of all aspects of the company's fundraising program
- Coordinate and implement the early learning program fundraisers (child care, preschool, BAS) - approximately 5 per school year
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing early learning fundraisers - provide data of fundraising results to the Director of Development
- Seeks out and add prospective donors to donor database
- Coordinates with the Director of Development on the communication with donors by sending thank you notes within 24 hours of receiving gifts/donations
- Manages, coordinates and oversees all volunteer activity with board members, staff, EITC scholarship recipients and other individuals in fundraising activities and special events - including tracking hours for EITC tuition assistance recipients
- Assists Director of Development and Director of Communication with special events and fundraising activities such as the Children's Book Festival (used book drive campaign, bookmark contest, volunteer coordination and supervision)
- Work to develop and expand The Learning Lamp's volunteer base
- Assists Director of Development with securing sponsorships for special events
- Oversee execution of Summer Performing Arts Camp
- Build and maintain a relationship with Board members and donors
- Represent agency at community events
- Identify new donor leads monthly
- Assist Human Resources Department with hiring and community events
- Talk with new staff during their orientation to explain the Employee Giving Program and its benefits

QualificationsWhat do you bring?
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college in the area of business or nonprofit management, marketing or communications plus two years' experience in a related position; or
- A college degree in another subject area plus four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and understanding of social media.
- Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
