- Employee Assistance ProgramOverview: The Development Director is a senior member of the management team responsible for oversight of securing funding that both supports existing operations, programs and facilitates expansion. Fundraising includes private and family foundations, corporate foundations, individual donors and other identified funding sources. The Development Director works closely with CEO, Executive Vice President of Finance, staff, and members of the Board of Directors in creating and implementing quantifiable development strategies, goals and plans. This position maintains a visible presence in the philanthropic, corporate, and non-profit communities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Budgeting for revenue growth, donor renewals, donor upgrades and devising methods to decrease donor attrition.
- Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding potential and current individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Communicating with donors regularly to keep them informed on the impact their contributions make.
- Creating and executing cultivation, recognition, and stewardship activities for current and prospective donors with the intent to increase their affinity for Avenue 360.
- Developing and implementing the strategic development plan in conjunction with the annual budget.
- Managing all aspects of private foundation and corporate grant development efforts with a focus on building and maintaining long term relationship.
- Researching and developing relationships with potential public and governmental grant funders and assist in writing where needed.
- Managing major gift solicitations.
- Overseeing, supervising, and providing support for special events including participation in and/or benefit from events conducted by other organizations.
- Ensuring the accuracy of the donor data management tools (software, recording keeping, etc.).
- Exercising sound fiscal management including revenue enhancement and expense control.
- Increasing the Center's visibility in the community by attending community events and by developing and disseminating publicity materials to media sources, donors, and potential donors in partnership with Marketing Department.
- Overseeing donor relations activities, and support board/volunteer committee relations and communicate directly with Board Members and volunteers for development support needs.
- Assisting with quality management/assurance functions.
- Completing other duties as assigned.
- Carrying out the full cycle of private grants; research, prospecting, writing, submission and reporting.
- Developing the cases for private support to raise dollars for unfunded needs.
- Repurposing grant writing content for other donor and organizational communications.
- Maintaining grants calendar with deadlines, action plans, outcomes, and other pertinent data.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A minimum of 5+ years of fundraising management experience with demonstrated success in individual, corporate, and foundation solicitations and stewardship. Nonprofit health expertise preferred.
- Experience and references supporting a successful career in working directly with a Board of Directors and volunteer committees.
- Self-starter with knowledge of the Houston community.
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Exceptional communication and writing skills in English are essential.
