Gift officers secure philanthropic support from business leaders, alumni, and friends of the University and utilize this support to create an inclusive, collaborative, and responsive environment. Through a variety of project opportunities, gift officers work with donor prospects to establish an understanding of the profound difference that can be made in the lives of students and the measure of academic excellence that can be achieved through the support of priority educational entities that the University offers to the communities served. The division includes Advancement Communications, Advancement Operations, Alumni Engagement, Annual Giving, Development, Donor Relations, Event Planning, Gift Planning, Prospect Management & Research, and the Vice Chancellor's office. The College of Arts and Sciences promotes discovery and learning by students and faculty in the sciences, the humanities, and the arts. Firmly grounded in a tradition of rigorous disciplinary inquiry, the College also recognizes the value of connections made across disciplinary boundaries and so supports and encourages interdisciplinary and collaborative scholarship and teaching.Position Summary The Development Officer of Development will have an understanding of and appreciation for the sciences, the humanities, and the arts in order to build upon the foundation of its advancement program. This person will deploy experience managing a fundraising program as a confident, creative, enthusiastic and results-oriented development leader. The Development Officer of Development will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting leadership annual gifts, major gifts and stewarding individuals. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our non-profit's fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and contribute to a stronger development team for our organization.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in fundraising
- Prior experience in leadership annual giving
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to relate to diverse constituencies including identifying, recruiting, training and recognizing volunteers
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Prior experience in a higher education setting
- Willingness and ability to travel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to utilize technological resources available to the development staff
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and CertificatesPreferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
- Three to five years of experience in fundraising
