JOB SUMMARY:

Clemson University is looking for a Development Officer - Community, Engagement, Belonging, and Access (CEBA) to fulfill the following duties:

* Experienced corporate fundraiser and private foundation grant writer to serve as Director for Community, Engagement, Belonging, and Access (CEBA) for the Advancement division.

* Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards companies, corporate foundations, and regional and national private foundations for the purpose of securing significant gifts and grants for Clemson University's Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging, and Access (CEBA) initiatives and programs.

* Works in cooperation with the Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging, and Access (CEBA) staff, faculty, administration, advancement colleagues, and other campus partners to enhance relationships with companies and foundations to increase the number of gifts and grants received by Clemson University for inclusive excellence initiatives.

* Coordinates the development of materials to convey the Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging, and Access (CEBA) initiatives.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

50% - Essential - Fundraising Management:

Serves as the primary manager for a portfolio of corporations and private foundations that fund the Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging, and Access (CEBA) programming and additional philanthropic endeavors. Cultivates relationships with organizations, prepares proposals for solicitations, and serves as a team member to various University colleagues. Works closely with Clemson University Foundation (CUF), Corporations and Foundations Relations (CFR) Team, and other development colleagues in preparation of foundation grants and corporate program support proposals -- including special event sponsorships. Reports with a hard line to the Executive Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, with a soft line to the Director of Alumni Relations and Development for CEBA. Raises a minimum of $750K-$1M on an annual basis with the goals for subsequent years determined in conjunction with the Executive Director.

20% - Essential - Research and Proposal Development:

Conducts prospect research and maintains in depth knowledge of the University and CEBA policies and priorities. Develops a comprehensive plan for engaging companies and foundations in support of the CEBA initiatives. Participates in structured sessions with colleagues to coordinate prospect identification activity, engagement, strategy building, proposal development, solicitation and follow up.

15% - Essential - Collaboration and Communication:

Works closely with internal and external partners, including the Division of Research and Office of Corporate Partnerships, to promote, solicit and navigate funding processes from viable private foundation and corporate partners and prospects. As needed, provides critical coordination services for sponsorship efforts of signature CEBA events (e.g. Men of Color Summit, Women's Roundtable). Must be inclusive, collaborative, and demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.

10% - Essential - Stewardship and Donor Management:

Provides thoughtful, consistent and appropriate stewardship, including letters, grant reports, events, publicity, and other measures of accountability. Coordinates site visits for companies and foundations, working closely with the Vice President of Diversity & Inclusive Excellence, CFR, CEBA, development colleagues, faculty, staff and students. Monitors and enters all activity in the donor management system in an accurate and timely manner to ensure accurate booking and awarding of funding. Compiles and provides information on corporations and foundations that support inclusive excellence programming to development colleagues and other campus partners.

5% - Essential - Representation and Liaison:

Represents the University and CEBA to foster a positive public image of the University and CEBA to promote support of its programs. Serves as an ambassador by managing the development and submission of various leadership award applications. Serves on departmental and University committees and task forces as needed and approved by the Executive Director of CFR and the Director of Alumni Relations and Development for CEBA.

Education - Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience - 3+ Years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hours:: 37.5/week

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: $66,892.00 - $ 85,000.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
